When I was a child, I used to be scared of the dark, due to my vivid imagination. However I always shared a room with my sister, so there was nothing I could do about it, just embrace my fear and try to fall asleep quickly under the covers.
Now when I am an adult, I like to think that I can do anything I want, because well… I am an adult.
If I want to have a desert before dinner – I will. If I want to sleep in on a day off or spend the whole day in bed – I can. If I want to fall asleep to David Attenborough’s voice narrating a documentary – I do.
I find that sometimes those little things we do for ourselves are as important as any big goal or ambition one might have. I think that sometimes we spend too much time planning for the future forgetting to take care of our feelings today. And I wish to never go to bed feeling anything less than happy and excited about life.
